How do I start?

A Training Course

A beginners course is required to provide the necessary training to allow beginners to shoot and understand the safety of archery.

We routinly run beginners courses and charge £60 seniors and £30 Juniors for 6 x 2hour sessions.

The Hainford Archers have three qualified Level 1 Archery Coaches who run the courses and can help you to improve once you've completed your course.

When is the next beginner's course?

We ran one beginners courses last year but we run them based on demand. So if you are interested then please contact us and we will advise when the next one is commencing. We can also advise you if a course is running somewhere else locally.

What Equipment should I buy?

You don't need to buy any equipment just yet, it is best to wait until completing the beginner's course before considering whether to buy any equipment. If you join the Hainford Archers then you can borrow our club equipment (at no extra charge) for as long as required.

What happens once I've completed the course?

As soon as you have completed the course you will be able to join the club immediately and start shooting. We also have experienced members and club coaches that can help guide you through until you are confident.

Is there an age limit?

There is no minimum or maximum age limit. The only limits are based on whether someone can draw back the bow sufficiently for the arrow to reach and stick in the target. We have members from 9 to 80 years old. The minimum age is probably around 7 years old, and both my own children could successfully shoot at this age.
